About This Blog
The Green Tech Girl blog covers the intersection of technology, energy and the environment. In addition to looking at technology issues from the perspective of sustainability, the blog also covers the open source movement and how technology and consumerism impact our life.
Not everything here has a serious tone. You’ll also find reviews of technological toys and software, and other commentary about the Internet and our gadget-filled world.
About Me
I spent many years as an Internet consultant. I also work in the “softer” holistic field, and I generate my business through a variety of online storefronts and websites. (Please see Feel Good Girl, my holistic portal.)
I still have a bit of “geek” in me and prefer to use Linux, not Windows, as my main operating system. I am also very interested in sustainable technologies and alternative fuels. My blog here is a place for me to post my thoughts on these topics on occasion.
I’m a libertarian-minded conscious capitalist, and at the same time I am interested in sustainability, solar power, greywater and all sorts of stuff related to “permaculture.” I feel that the best way out of our economic and environmental problems is to innovate our way out of them through technological advances. I believe this will most likely happen through the private sector, through people like Kevin Costner investing in technologies such as his machine that separates oil from ocean water. It’s not that government can’t help, but, well, we’re kinda broke. So I hope that somehow we can get America going again through green innovation.
It is an exciting, scary time to live. I’ll be curious to see what the next 10 years bring.
Namaste,
Stephanie
